Emmett “Bucky” Mitchell, IV
Emmett “Bucky” Mitchell, IV is an attorney with Coates Law Firm, PL. Joining the firm in 2009, Bucky specializes in election law and campaign finance compliance, specifically counseling office holders and candidates, political committees, corporations, and foundations at the local and state level.
Bucky has extensive experience in election and ethics law. From 2004 to 2008, he served as staff director with the Florida House Committee on Ethics and Elections, helping to shepherd significant election and campaign finance legislation through the legislative process. Bucky also served as senior attorney with the Florida House Rules, Ethics and Elections Committee from 2001 to 2004. Prior to the Florida House, Bucky served under three Secretary of States as assistant general counsel with the Department of State in the Office of General Counsel and Division of Elections from 1994 to 2000.
Bucky received his Bachelor of Arts in INSERT from Auburn University in 1985 and his Juris Doctor from the University of Georgia, School of Law in 1991. He is a member of the Administrative Law Section of the Florida Bar.
Bucky has lived in Tallahassee for more than 30 years. He is married to Paige Mitchell and has two children, Emmett and Lily Anne.
